Posted Monday, December 21, 2009 by Josh Lauderdale

The Eagles started off their week on Tuesday against defending two-time state champions Deer Park. The Stags had one of their best teams ever, ranked number one in the state, and the Eagles were the underdogs in many of these matches. The Eagles came out fighting but could not match up to the Stags who won the dual 48-20. Sean Thomas (HWT) started the night and won his match by fall. Josh Lauderdale (135) came out and won his match 10-5. Tylor Labelle (145) was losing when he threw his opponent to his back in the closing second to win his match. And Justin Hause (189) won in dominating fashion 14-5.

On Thursday the Eagles traveled to Reardan to face a tough team who has a very good chance of winning the state title. Lakeside came up short in the dual losing 45-16. Mike Buamgarden (125) won first match for the Eagles controlling the whole match throughout. Josh Luaderdale (135) despite a cut eye pinned his man. Tylor Labelle (145) wrestled a great match and won his match also. And in the last win for Lakeside, Dallas Watkins (215) won his match.

The following day the Eagles traveled to Coure D’lane for the Tri-State Classic Tournament, a tournament where the top teams from four states (Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana) compete in this two-day, 32 plus man bracket. This year the Eagles had no placers but they wrestled great throughout. Mike Buamgarden (119) and Josh Lauderdale (135) were both one win away from placing and wrestled great. Jacob Ulland (103), Jacob Judd (140), Josh Judd (140), Tylor Labelle (145),  Kyan Martin (145), Sam Jarvis (152), Jimmy Spencer (152), Chase Fuson (160), Justin Hause (171), Dallas Watkins (189), and Sean Thomas (215) also competed. Lakeside has the next week off for Christmas then will head to Pendleton.
